First i scanned in and vectorized the artwork provided by the customer. The design is
on both sides of a large tow-truck so i mirrored the image and cut and applied the
layout. Using sign and auto covering paper i covered the rest of the cab.  The paint
mask is yellow the white area has already been removed from cab.
I started with HoK black base coat. Drawing the feathers with the black and leaving
the white of the cab to fill in later. You could repaint the feathers in white if you
wanna paint the area solid black first.
Filling in the color for the feathers is easy, just use a combine mixture of HoK pagan
gold and root beer, about half and half. This mixture of color gives a nice brownish
orange that can be darkened if you want with more root beer.
figure 4  I want the barbwire sharp so it was masked off in the design and now it is removed. See nice and
sharp white barbwire.

figure 5 Chrome can be done using may different colors i use oriental blue kandy first very light for
shadows. Add a little black to your cup and darken the shadows again.

figure 6 My barbwire can really stand out now after the white highlights are put in.
figure 7 The upper part of the mask is removed and spray a royal blue base not a candy because the
candy would bleed through the white i have to add later.

figure 8 Try and keep you blue light and dark in some places so it ripples, not just a solid blue block.

figure 9 Following the art provided I carefully cut and remove the mask. Keeping the stripes in a wave
like pattern.
figure 10 Careful on the cutting you don't want to score the paint, and this would leave a heavy line in
the clear.

figure 11 Bring on the red. Loading up the HoK base red I fill in the stripes. Careful when you get to the
painted end, because there is not mask to stop the over-spray.

figure 12 Time for some feather detail. Load up a small batch of oriental blue kandyand over reduce it
to keep it light. Keep you feather lines fluffy like clouds, not hard. Mix a small amount of violet kandy into
the blue to darken it and deepen the shadow areas.
figure 13 More blue violet mix goes through the red also, use on both colors

figure 14 Back in black, to fill in any over-spray that went on the feathers and sharpen the details
around any items that look dull.

figure 15 All but one mask has been removed so wipe down the area with a good clean tack rag to pick
up all the dust and over-spray that has built up on the design. Your 80 percent done, your hand is
cramped, so drink a coke and take a breath, and finish this sucker.
figure 16. Around the eyes are a series of small round feathers and bumps on the beak.

figure 17. Rip out the beak, lips, and tongue

figure 18. Wipe down the area make sure this is clean before painting.
figure 19. Clean your airbrush cup good and refill with pagan yellow. If the cup has blue left in it your
yellow will be green so clean it with reducer first. Spray the pagan gold in the beak area. Remember to
build your colors in the darker areas

figure 20 .The beak needs a nice orange added to it so add kandy tangerine to your pagan gold mix,
and build up the darker areas.

figure 21. CLEAN YOUR COLOR CUP OUT!!!! Now add your Base white back in, and highlight. the
feathers.
figure 22. Using your favorite stencile material or a business card cut different size stars, just not to big

figure 23. Highlight the eyes beak and feathers and tongue to finish off your design. Gratz your done.
